Computer Upgrades

If your computer is running slow, or it can’t handle the new programs you need, then it might be time for an upgrade. Tippecanoe County’s community of small businesses needs every advantage it can get to maintain an edge on the market. Keeping your computer software up to date is an important way to make your daily work smoother, faster, and easier. We help you upgrade your machine without disrupting your business.

We can install the latest version of Windows, MS Office, and many other software and applications, as well as new hardware.  In addition to doing the installation, we can guide you through the process of deciding which upgrades are right for you.  We do this by getting to know you, your needs, and your computer to figure out which upgrades will prove to be good investments.

If your computer is running slowly, or if doing work on your computer seems more complicated than it should be, bring in your questions and we’ll let you know if an upgrade can make using your computer easier. We want to offer guidance as well as technical support so that your machine is working for you, and not the other way around.

Computer Repair

You need help with your computer. But what kind of help? Lafayette PC, a division of Sound Advice, offers a wide variety of repair services that should accommodate your needs. If you aren’t sure give us a call and we’ll try to find the solution that fits your computer needs.

Hard Drive Crash

When your hard drive crashes, the best thing you can do to save you files is to get the machine in to a professional because in a very short time, the hard drive will likely be unusable—and all the files you have stored on it will be inaccessible. Our office is conveniently located in downtown Lafayette, Indiana, so you can bring your computer in to us and we will do everything we can to rescue your data.

When you bring a crashed hard drive in to Lafayette PC, we first run a variety of diagnostic tests to see if we can locate the problem and save your files. For our business clients we make sure to target the files that matter most to your business in the recovery process: first we save the financial files, then client data and any other business related files, and lastly any remaining data (pictures, music, etc.). While we focus on business computing, we fix hard drives for home users as well. When you bring in a home computer with a hard drive crash, we will ask you what the most important data you have on that hard drive is so that we can prioritize the retrieval process.

Viruses and Malware

Small businesses can’t afford to give their computers sick days. If your computer gets infected with a virus or malware, you need to get it doctored and back to work as soon as possible. Our goal is to get your computer cleaned up and back on its feet without having to wipe the operating system and reload it from scratch. The best way to deal with viruses and malware is to prevent them from infecting your computer in the first place. We work with you to find the firewall and network security that will protect your machine from malware without inconveniencing you while you use it every day.

Blue Screen

The “blue screen of death” means something is wrong with your computer, but you don’t know what it is. When the screen goes blank and suddenly nothing is working, seemingly for no reason, you need someone who can diagnose and deal with the problem. When you bring your computer in, we will run a full range of diagnostic scans and perform a system optimization to get your computer running as quickly as possible. We will have your computer back to you and working smoothly in the shortest amount of time possible.

Computer Protection

When you work with us, our experienced team will help you make sure that your computer is safe, secure, and protected. Yes, we know how to fix your computer when something goes wrong - but why should you wait until something goes wrong? Let us help you make sure that your computer will be working when you need it to be working. We aim to help you plan for future problems with adequate protection. You want to rely on your computer and not have to worry about when issues come up.

Add Security

With all the sensitive and important information stored on your network, it’s important to keep your computer secure, but still user friendly. Here at Lafayette PC, a division of Sound Advice, we will guide you in striking the right balance for your business. We give you enough security to stay safe but not so much that it becomes inconvenient. We will help you choose appropriate firewalls, set up a secure wireless network, and protect your machines against viruses and malware. Our job is to educate Tippecanoe County’s small business owners about the options available and the potential risks, so that you are empowered to choose what is best for your business.

Back Up My Data

You use your computer every day to support your business. All your most important data—your financial information, client information, bookkeeping files, stock inventories—are all stored on your computer. Then one day, the unthinkable happens, and your computer is unusable. Losing the machine is bad enough, but it’s a devastating blow if you lose all your data at the same time. We will make sure this doesn’t happen to you. One of our most important jobs is making sure the small businesses of Lafayette, Indiana and the surrounding area can rest assured their data is properly backed up. No matter what catastrophe strikes your computer, your information is safe, sound, and still accessible.
